I have to say by far my most favorite people to make stuff for is my kids! They love the things I make for them. They take them hot off the fingers and never stop loving them. I have a perfect example today to show. I finished my second ever pair of socks today for my oldest Cassy who has not taken them off since. She has been watching me in anticipation for these socks to be done for 5 days. I fear that I could never take longer than a week to make her socks before she would drive me crazy.
I used 2 skeins of Knit Picks Imagination Hand painted sock yarn in color way Unicorn and size 3, 40 in circular needles. I have to say this was my first time using fingering weight yarn. It was a little tricky at first. The socks fit her kid sized 12 feet. I used the pattern Pitter Patter in the book 2-at-a-time socks by Melissa Morgan-Oakes. It is just a basic sock pattern with k1p1 ribbing.

Here is my first pair of socks I ever made. I have really been wanting to make socks for a while now and thought I would take a crack at it while I was on vacation in Utah. So I searched for a local yarn shop and asked if they had any socks classes available. They thought they might but after a few weeks it wasn’t able to come to pass. So I was bummed and later that night went to a craft store to pet yarn and look for dpns so I could just teach myself. Then became even more bummed that they had no dpns. On my way out of the store I passed by the book section and found the 2-at-a-time socks book and realized I already have all the materials needed! So away I went and made my first ever pair of socks at the same time! The book was very easy and the pictures and Melissa’s instructions were great. There is also a great 2-at-time socks group at Ravelry. The sample socks were asked to be made in two different colors so you could easily tell which is sock A and B. Lydia doesn’t mind at all and they fit her size 6 toddler feet just fine. The book just wanted some worsted weight yarn and I used some naturally Caron yarn.

Now I am off to make my son a pair of socks closely followed by a pair for hubby! One of my knitting pals in our local group takes turns knitting her family a pair of socks. So after everyone has gotten their first pair of hand knitted socks I will have a Socks family order to follow so you can bet I will always have a pair of socks on the needles!

So I have made my first handspun yarn!!!! It is sure far from being the most even yarn but it is yarn. Yarn. I actually made yarn! I love my Mach II from Spinolution. I don’t think I shared with you all the neat lady who I bought the wheel from. Her studio’s name is Wildharefiber. She has a neat studio in which she sells roving, local wool, handspun yarn, for those who don’t spin, Spinolution wheels and spindles and also many other fiber related things.
My first skein was made from little samples I received from bee mice elf who just recently had a baby so is taking a break right now. I have already misplaced this skein but do have a picture to share. It is thick and thin for sure! lol

My second skein is huge! I got the fiber from wildharefiber. It is also very thick and thin. I believe I have 70 yards. I already have a pattern I want to make with this.

My third skein’s fiber is also from wildharefiber. I forgot the color way but I believe it is just wool top.

I have lot’s of practice ahead of me but I hope to be able to spin fingering weight yarn so I can make socks with my own handspun. Next post I will share my first pair of socks I knit. Thanks for looking!

Hello! It has been awhile. I don’t know how you guys do it by writing in your blogs so much. I am such a slacker! Any who I am writing this post to show you my newest toy that my Hubby surprised me with after begging him for 8 months. (Love ya!) I have a lot of things I have done recently but I want to reserve this whole post to my newest present. My Spinolution Mach II spinning wheel. I bought it from a local dealer here in my town and we had it shipped to her and I picked it up today. Here name is Wildharefiber and she has many wonderful things in her shop. I am trying her roving right now as well and got a niddy noddy that I will be using soon.
I am not very good right now but I am working on it. I have gone through my fiber stash and have tried out three different kinds of roving. I really need to work on my drafting because I am no good at it right now. I will be updating, hopefully, regularly and showing how my progress is going. I hope tonight to finish at least 2 singles so that I can let them rest and ply them together tomorrow. I am a little nervous about all this new stuff but I am going to charge ahead and hope not to screw up to much!
Here’s to hoping for a little piece of quite!

So for some reason I just felt I’m going to post. Life is crazy and getting crazier but you know what I am going to take the time to post. If there is anybody out there……….. hello… hello…. porbably not anymore but what the heck. Life is good, crazy but good. We are in the process of buying our first house, wohooo, oldest graduating kindergarten, 2nd kiddo graduated preschool, 3rd kiddo getting potty trained, and 4th kiddo learning to sit up all by herself! Hubby and I are going to be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary and first house, too cool! So during all this mess I still find my self crocheting and knitting and on my way to spinning, now all I need is a wheel. Hopefully soon, fingers crossed.
So I hope to be one of those awesome people that blog all the time about their oranized neat life but till then I will blog whenever I can about our ups and downs. Here are some pictures that show some stuff I have been up too.

Well that is us and a few things that we have been up to while I have been slacking at the blogging world. I have tons of projects to post but I will save some stuff to blog about later. I will show you next post what I made with this yarn, for those of you who don’t go to Ravelry it will be a surprise.

Tata for now!

Happy Valentines day! Hope you all are having a special day. Nothing big going on here. My hubby and I went on a date last night and I met with another group of knitters at the local borders. Hubby was so nice, we were a few doors down from the store and I mentioned that it was Friday night the same night that a group of knitters from Ravelry meet and he told me “then let’s go”. I didn’t want to because it was our date but what a cute hubby to let me steal some of our time and make some new friends. So we stopped by Borders and I was able to chat with some local knitters I have been talking with online. And to make a short story short I want to knit socks! lol I used some birthday money that was burning a hole in my pocket and went over to Knitpicks and ordered the necessitates to knit my very first pair of socks! Yipee! I hope to make my littiest kiddo a pair of socks first since her feet are the smallest! lol
I will show my goodies when they arrive. Hopefully I am not in over my head, ahhhh!
So onto my second knitted project and it is another scarf. It is a stitch in the 365 Knitting Stiches a year perpetual calendar. I used the March 12th stitch call the Lattice stitch. I used a Merino yarn called Zara. I finally took pictures.

Well a soon to be finished project is in the works and I will have to delay on posting pics since my sister in law might be peeking and it is for her. So tata for now!

So I was challenged a couple of days ago by Caroline to find my 6th folder and get my 6th picture in it and show you guys. So my 6th pic was a video and I still can’t seem to figure that one out so I will show you my 7th pic.

Yep those are my sick white legs! lol That is my 3rd kiddo Lydia, aka The Monster. She is 10 months old and is playing in the pool with her rubby ducky, which she is eating! lol Now she is almost 2 1/2. Jeeze how time flies!
So I will be posting a picture of my finished knitted scarf soon. It is crazy windy today her in Virginia. We have been losing power on and off and have some crazy burst of wind. So easy to say I didn’t take a picture of the scarf outside! Wouldn’t want that bad boy flying away. So I will update this weekend! Oh and by the way I challenge all of you who haven’t been challenged yet to go take a peek at your 6th pic in your 6th folder. Blog about it if you want. See ya!

Howdy all! So I found a great fiber artist group and we have been meeting every other Saturday since the beginning of this year and I’m having a blasts! Turns out I want to learn how to spin my own yarn. I have caught the bug and will start saving for my very own spinning wheel. Many of the ladies spin their own yarn in my group and I find it so interesting and fun looking. So hopefully before the end of the year I will be a proud and newbie spinner. lol
I am still trying to catch up on posting some of my finished projects I did when I was a-wall from the blogging world. I made my kid’s teachers some scarves for Christmas. I only have two kiddos in school but yet made five scarfs. Each of my kids have a teacher and a teacher’s assistant that is a permant helper in their class. I find it rather comforting to have two adults to each class. So I made those four and then one extra for my son’s preschool director. I did a simple dc, ch 1 scarf in red heart yarn. I also am in a 12 scarves of 2009 CAL over at the ville. So my Janurary scarf was from a pattern in Positively Crochet. The scarf is just all in sc and than has a snowflake that you hand sew on. I used white Bernat soft Boucle yarn.

My family requested hats that coverd their ears so I just modified the baby Sejia hat, from the Happy Hooker book, to fit my family. I used Vanna’s choice yarn, a lion brand yarn that has sparkles in the white yarn, (I can’t remember what is was called but I will update when I do.) and lionbrand handspun yarn. So I guess I should call it all Lionbrand yarn hats. lol

I also finished my second knitted project which is also a scarf. Ha, soon hopefully I will learn to knit something else. It is just blocking right now and I will take pics when it blocks properly. Since this is my first time blocking anything. I have two bags in the works, one knitted and one crocheted. So ta ta for now. Have a nice weekend!

Hello strangers! I’m back from slacking off. I tell you what it is certainly an adjustment with my newest addition. And everytime I think I’ve got this whole 4 kid thing down one of them gets sick and the choas starts a fresh. Anywho I finally finished a project that I started almost a year ago last Febuary. So can I get a WHOO WHOO, I finished my daughters daisy afghan and it is huge!

It is seven flowers wide and eight tall. I don’t know if you can tell but there is seven different main colors and I have them going diagonal. I just did a shell border in two different shades of pink. So I am so very happy to have that finished.
I actually have been pretty busy with my crafts. I forgot to tell ya’ll that I learned how to knit. It seems like lots of my blogging buddies all had the same “I got it” moment like me cause it just clicked and I have been having lots of fun with that. For Christmas I got a set of Knitpics options harmony wood needles. They are so awesome.

p.s I don’t know if you can tell but my background on my computer is yarn. hehe I found different yarn backgrounds at lionbrand’s website.
So my first knitting project was One row handspun scarf, by Yarn Harlot. I used my only skein of Hobby Lobby I love this yarn in brown.

I also have another scarf on the needles. It is just a stitch from the 365 knittting stitches a year perpetual calendar. It is called the Lattice stitch and is on March 12th. I went to my local yarn store for the first time and picked up this yarn called Zara and is made by Filatura Di Cros. Weird huh, it is italian. Anyways it is just an extra fine merino wool. So here is my knitting work in progress.

Ok so I have done more projects than that but I have to save some more to blog about and my kids are very badly needing my attention. So hope I don’t take another month to write again! lol Now that I posted I can go read all ya’lls blogs without feeling guilty about not writing in mine.

Evelyn, 9 lbs 3 oz, 21 ins, Dec. 15.
Evelyn would like to say hello! She came on Monday, Dec. 15 via c-section at 10:00 am. She was an unexpected 9 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 inches long. Yeah crazy!

I couldn’t get their brother to sit still and hold the baby. But her sister’s were thrilled to hold her. Also here is finally a picture of my old stomach. By the way that pic was taken on Thanksgiving and I still had like two more weeks till I had her. I was huge and she was as high in my stomach as can be.

Also I finished two more round ripples before I had her. The bigger one is for Lydia, my third child, and the smaller pink one is for Evelyn, the newest. I used this pattern and modified it a little by only doing two large shells and one small shell. I used Pound of Love for the first one in white, bubble gum, and baby pink and it is 53 inches. The second one is in JoAnn’s Rainbow bouncle-pink, 42 inches, and I didn’t even use the whole skein.

I am sorry for taking so long but I slacked off again. I hope now that since the baby is born that everything will calm down. Ha! But a girl can dream. My hubby is going to help me post videos tonight so for you baby fans out there you can see more of her. Also still working on my oldest daughter’s daisy afghan but I don’t think I will get it done in time for Christmas. But I am still trying. Good Luck with everyone’s Christmas projects!
Merry Christmas!
